Portfolio Manager

Our client is an established specialist within the commercial motor and short-term insurance sector in South Africa and is looking for a Portfolio Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing broker relationships, supporting portfolio performance, developing new business and ensuring that clients receive a high level of service. Duties and Responsibilities: Client and Broker Liaison * Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients. * Communicate the company’s underwriting approach, policies and requirements to brokers. * Schedule and attend broker meetings and visits. * Understand client and broker needs and identify business opportunities. * Keep brokers informed of changes to underwriting criteria and policies. * Represent the company professionally within the insurance market. Business and Portfolio Management * Manage and grow an allocated broker portfolio. * Work towards agreed sales targets for new and existing business. * Monitor portfolio performance and assist with maintaining an appropriate loss ratio. * Ensure that underwriting guidelines and internal processes are followed. * Participate in sales and business review meetings. * Identify challenges within the portfolio and assist with finding practical solutions. * Maintain consistent service levels across the portfolio. Marketing * Promote the company’s professional image and services to brokers. * Identify opportunities to grow existing business and develop new relationships. Administration * Ensure all required documentation is complete and submitted to the relevant department. * Review renewals and advise on any changes or areas requiring attention. * Follow up on incomplete or insufficient policy information. * Attend to additional business requirements as needed. Requirements: * Grade 12 / Matric * Minimum 2 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry * Relevant short-term insurance qualification * Regulatory Examination (RE) qualification * Intermediate computer literacy * Valid driver’s licence * Good communication and relationship-building skills * Bilingual in English and Afrikaans Remuneration: R30 000 - R40 000 CTC Per Month
